New chair at Abraham Kriel

RANDBURG – Organisation supporting vulnerable children elects new chairperson to combat financial difficulties.

Abraham Kriel Childcare (AKC) recently introduced its newly-elected board chairperson, Lawrence Mlotshwa.

AKC is a non-profit organisation running 21 homes for vulnerable children in Gauteng, including homes in Fontainebleau, Risidale, and Linden.

Mlotshwa has served on the AKC board since 2003.

He is an accomplished human resources executive and has worked in this capacity for Unilever, Sun International, Nedbank, Absa, Barclays and Neotel.

He is currently the managing director of Mantuzelas Management Services.

He is also faculty leadership development advisor to the American Callaway Institute of Leadership.

Mlotshwa takes over from George le Roux at a particularly difficult time for Abraham Kriel Childcare, as the 112-year-old organisation faces a massive financial crisis.

Income sources have reduced over the past number of months with the result that the organisation has been forced to use reserves built up over eight years to sustain its services.
