Residents are invited to join the Melville Business Association (MBA) in celebrating Christmas on 6 December.

For the second year running, a fun-filled Christmas market is set to run from 9am to 7pm on the corner of 4th and 7th streets in

Melville.

The event is expected to be festive, culminating in a procession under the Christmas lights along well-known 7th Street, led by the White Chapel Ringers together with singer Rob Rodell.

Highlights of the Melville Christmas market include:

n The White Chapel Ringers, who will lead the procession with their bell-ringing at 6pm. Named after the Whitechapel Foundry maker of the bells, their home base is at St George’s Church in Parktown where there are tower bells.

The ringers who make up the ensemble are from all over Johannesburg, and they ring for charities, church services, weddings and in this case to celebrate Christmas at the Melville Christmas market.

n South African Music Awards (SAMA) nominee Rob Rodell, who will entertain residents with his unique brand of music which fuses contemporary classical styles with dance, house, pop, rock and Afro-pop.

He will perform songs from his a cappella Christmas Vol 1 album, nominated for a SAMA in 2011, giving a truly traditional Christmas spirit to the event.

n Residents can have their picture taken with Santa at Clyde on 4th Antique Shop at 75 4th Avenue and go away with a great momentum.

n The Melville market will be a hive of Christmas cheer with stalls selling crafts, gifts and antiques, and the surrounding shops will have their best festive goodies on sale. A range of food stalls will keep everyone happy and well fed.
