Woman Crush Wednesday: Ellah
LINDEN – Meet Miss Uganda Stella Nantumbwe, who represented her country going by the name Ellah in the 2014 'Big Brother Africa' competition.
She is a woman of surpassing beauty in the prime of her youth.
Ellah (real name Stella Nantumbwe) is the current Miss Uganda and one of the recently evicted Big Brother Africa Linden housemates who has passion for her craft as a beauty queen.
“I did an internship with the UN and I thought it was time for me to explore the modelling side of my passion and helping people, so I decided to enter the Miss Uganda competition,” said the 23-year-old beauty queen.
The reigning Miss Uganda was crowned queen in July 2013.
“My term was supposed to end in July but it carried on a bit more and when Big Brother came, I had to leave to come to the show.”
According to Ellah, the experience was life changing.
“This opened my eyes. I got to meet amazing people and do amazing things for my country. I served the best way I could.”
As part of playing her role as the country’s leading beauty queen, she took part in changing the face of her country.
She helped rebuild an orphanage, offered a hand in health clinics and worked with the youth in different parts of the country.
Ellah is not just a beauty but a brainy as well.
She holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Computing from the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom (UK).
“I intend to do my master’s after I figure out what to do with my life completely,” she said.
Ellah admits that the first few years of her three-year stay in the UK was a bit of a culture shock for her.
“People there were so gloomy. I am not used to it because people in my country are so happy and bubbly.
Going to a country where everyone was so serious and time-conscious showed me how different people may be… I had to adjust to the accents as well, but I handled it quite well.”
Her future is filled with endless possibilities.
“Now that I have experienced so much, I want to get into TV, radio and singing, and continue with my modelling career, concentrating on commercial modelling.”
Although she has achieved such greatness at a young age, growing up, Ellah stumbled and fell but was always able to rise up.
“There was a bit of struggle at some point of my life but my mother was very hard working. Things got better and things got worse but I have had a good life. I am very grateful,” she said.
