Annie and Sandy need your help
CRESTA – SPCA shelters across South Africa need dog donations this Christmas.
Anyone familiar with the timeless tale of Annie knows that Annie never goes anywhere without her trusty sidekick – her beloved dog Sandy.
To celebrate the release of Annie, which hits cinemas across South Africa on 30 January 2015, Sony Movies South Africa, together with the NSPCA and Eukanuba, will be launching the “Lend A Paw With Annie” campaign, which will roll out from 5 December 2014.
According to Claire Jackson-Bernardo, publicist for Sony Pictures South Africa, Sony Movies South Africa is issuing a call to all children, their families, and South Africans across the board to get involved to support their furry friends by donating dog toys, tins of dog food, and making monetary donations that will be redistributed to SPCA shelters across South Africa.
When South Africans head to their nearest cinema from 5 December, they will find fun Annie-themed hopscotch mats that lead to a giant donation box where they can drop off their donations.
“With the help of South African children and their families, we’re hoping to have all of our donation boxes across South Africa full by the time the Annie film releases at the end of January 2015,” said Jackson-Bernardo.
For those who are unable to make it to a cinema, but would still love to be involved, they can SMS ANNIE to 38018 (each SMS costs R25) or visit www.annie-movie.co.za, where they will be able to make a monetary donation directly to the NSPCA.
The NSPCA work with over 100 local SPCA shelters across South Africa and help thousands of homeless animals every day, and Eukanuba produce high-quality pet food for cats and dogs.
“Were also encouraging people to snap a donation selfie and upload it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the #LendAPaw hashtag, where they will be in the running to win incredible prizes,” she said.
According to Jackson-Bernardo, SMS donations will be entered automatically.
Eukanuba will also be running a photo competition via www.facebook.com/eukanabasouthafrica, inviting people to send in photos of their own rescue pets for a chance to win more Annie prizes.
