OP sentence just or unwarranted?

NORTHCLIFF– Oscar Pistorius was slapped with a five year sentence for the death of Reeva Steenkamp and residents have taken a stand to air their views on the sentence.

Oscar Pistorius was on 21 October sentenced to five years in prison for the death of Reeva Steenkamp.

The disgraced athlete could serve as little as 10 months behind bars, according to the defence team lawyers.

Judge Thokozile Masipa ruled a non-custodial sentence would send the wrong impression to the community, but a long sentence would not be appropriate because it would appear to lack mercy.

The athlete was immediately taken down to the cells, before being transferred to the notorious Pretoria Central Prison.

Judge Masipa also sentenced the athlete to an additional three years in prison, wholly suspended, on the second count of a firearm contravention.

The sentences run concurrently.

Since the ruling, residents have had a lot to say about the sentence. What are your thoughts of the sentence?
