Marang House turns 16

NORTHCLIFF – Marang House is pulling out all the stops for its 16th birthday celebration on 1 November.

Marang House is turning sweet 16 on 1 November.

The Northcliff-based children’s home is pulling out all the stops for their birthday celebration, in hopes of raising funds. Organiser and matron at Marang House Salome Tarkies shared her joy about the impending celebration.

“It is going to be fun, we will be selling food as a way of raising funds.” said Tarkies.

“We are more than ready and I am just nervous at the same time,” she added.

“We have been given two jerseys signed by rugby player Jean de Villiers – one for the children at the house and another one to auction during the celebration.”

Tarkies also stated that they are not necessarily driven by people who come here with their money. “We are driven by people who come here bearing love and warmth for our children. That is what we need for our birthday.”

Marang House exists to provide care and support for rural children who require hospital treatment and who are in need of constant supervision and medical care.

The home looks after children with chronic implications associated with renal failure, cancer, diabetes, burns and trauma.
