Bandana-donned toddlers help raise funds

NORTHCLIFF – Opti-Baby Nursery School pupils donned their bandanas to raise funds for the Sunflower fund.

Opti-Baby Nursery School hosted their annual Bandana Day in aid of the Sunflower Fund on 3 October.

“All the money raised goes toward assisting The Sunflower Fund in increasing the South African Bone Marrow Registry, which exists to find, and match, bone marrow stem cell donors for patients who need a transplant, such as those with leukemia and other life-threatening blood disorders,” said the school’s owner and manager Marita Louw.

The formation of The Sunflower Fund in 1999 was inspired by the heroic struggle against leukemia of two brave young men, Darren Serebro and Chris Corlett.

It was started by a group of concerned parents whose children had contracted leukemia, and sadly, in some cases had lost their battle against it.
