Business owners disapprove of Dollar Table

MELVILLE – Business owners near Dollar Table tells of how they disapprove of the night club.

Following the murder of the 29-year-old Thulani Popoyi, business owners in 7th Street, Melville say they have always disapproved of Dollar Table.

Jonathan Butler: “I have been operating here for many years and Dollar Table has been operating here illegally, the owner is not really a great guy and he likes bribing the police because he is believed to be a very influential person This place has been nothing but bad news from the start.

Klaus Beckimann: “What happened is shocking. A lot of businesses are trying to make a living around here and Dollar Table is giving us a bad name. This man has been operating illegally, there is prostitution, money laundering and drugs in this place and now murder. This murder is a setback for all of us, but it did not come as a surprise. A lot of us have complained about this place because it was just too fishy from the beginning. Now our businesses have to suffer because of one rotten egg?”

Victor Hohls: “Thulani was a promoter at Liquid Blue, I knew him very well, I am still shocked about what happened. He was friendly and very welcoming. It is a massive loss for the community. I don’t want to say a lot about Dollar Table.”

Grace Long: “I hope they lock the Dollar Table owner up. I am fuming right now, no one liked this guy – I knew Thulani, he was wonderful and he did not deserve to die like that. I just hope they can close the place.”

Karim Baegrar: “After what happened, we are scared. We were never happy with Dollar Table and after what happened everything is now clear. People were selling drugs and doing prostitution here and I believe no one has to die like this.”
