The following information was provided by ADT and Security in Practice (SIP), involving incidents of crime that occurred between 16 and 27 August.

Auckland Park:

n 18 August. Housebreaking and arrest at 1.42am in Auckland Avenue.

Albertville:

  • 19 August. Armed robbery at 9.56am in Long Street.

Blairgowrie:

  • 16 August. Housebreaking at 7.10pm in Bantam Drive.
  • 17 August. Housebreaking and theft at 2.10pm in Alon Road.
  • 17 August. Housebreaking and theft at 2.40pm in Nora Street.
  • 19 August. Hijacking at 11.24am in Wendy Avenue, involving a Black Fiat Punto with the registration BS 45 KP GP.
  • 21 August. Housebreaking at 11.39pm in Bantam Drive.
  • 27 August. Common theft at 6.32am in Curvy Road.

Brixton:

  • 16 August. Malicious damage to property at 5.54am. No other details are available.
  • 27 August. Housebreaking at 12.36pm in Barnes Road.

Montgomery Park:

  • 18 August. Hijacking at 3.55pm in Langley Levy Street, involving a Silver Honda S2 000 with the registration WPY 276 GP.

Northcliff:

  • 21 August. Housebreaking and theft at 8.37am in Arizona Crescent.
  • 23 August. Housebreaking at 12.02pm in Albert Avenue.

Randpark:

  • 16 August. Housebreaking and theft at 10.17am on Republic Road.
  • 27 August. Housebreaking and theft at 6.32am on Republic Road.

Robindale:

  • 18 August. Common theft at 9.09pm on Cornelia Street.
  • 24 August. Theft from motor vehicle at 7am on Truman Street.

Westdene:

  • 16 August. Malicious damage to property at 7.21am on Ludlow Road.
  • 23 August. Housebreaking and theft at 2.54pm on Loch Avenue.
  • 23 August. Armed robbery at 3.28pm in Banbury Road.

“Blairgowrie in particular has had it bad,” said Security in Practice CEO Louis Grobler. “Even [in] the weeks preceding long weekends, crime pitched unceremoniously… only to drop again slightly after the holidays. Linden, on the other hand, has had an uncanny ‘low key’ crime pattern for the last few months.”

Questions were sent to Linden Police spokesperson Carol Mulamu concerning incidents and possible trends in the Linden Police’s jurisdiction, and comment is awaited.
