DA: Westbury toddler shooting investigation compromised by shoddy police work?

WESTBURY – The Democratic Alliance (DA) is highly concerned over the possibility that the Luke Tibbets shooting case has been compromised by police incompetence from the outset.

According to local information, police forensic experts only arrived on the scene of the shooting three days after the incident to gather evidence.

By the time the forensic team had arrived the scene had not only been contaminated by pedestrian and vehicular traffic, but in all likelihood saw the displacement of crucial evidence such as cartridge cases and the like.

How do police expect to build a solid case for prosecution against the arrested suspects when investigators cannot even preserve a crime scene? How will justice be done in the tragic shooting of an innocent young boy when shoddy police compromised the investigation?

The Tibbets family, like every other South African affected by crime, need the assistance and protection of law enforcement, and not suffer the consequences of police incompetence.
