Three-year old Luke Tibbets is still in a critical condition in the Netcare Garden City Hospital after being caught in gun-crossfire in Westbury.

“He’s still on life support” hospital general manager Sandile Mbele said. The toddler’s mother allegedly isn’t ready to take the baby off life-support.

The 24-year-old man arrested in connection with the double shooting in Westbury will be appearing in court this morning.

Westbury residents picketed outside the Sophiatown Police Station yesterday. Warrant Officer TJ de Bruyn said they were protesting against bail for the alleged criminal.

26-year old Keenan Mokwena, who was also injured during the shooting, alleges that he was the intended target of the shooting. Mokwena, who was shot in the arm during the shooting, said that he would carry the flag of justice for baby Tibbets.

“I will be in court every day, ensuring that the man will stay behind bars. Justice will be done,” he said.
