Ward councillors here to help

RANDBURG – Ward councillors can help you with most problems, after you have logged the issue wit the CIty of Johannesburg.

Unless you own a magical genie who can solve all your problems at no charge, Ward councillors are the next best thing.

They try their best to help residents with many problems, but only after they have been logged with the City of Johannesburg and enough time was given to the relevant department to respond.

Ward 99 councillor Bruce Herbert explains that Ward councillors are representatives of the community, usually political party representatives though some are independent, who are elected through municipal elections and tasked with attending to residents’ needs in an area.

They do this by escalating various problems to high-ranking officials who cannot normally be contacted by residents.

If a Ward councillor is unable to answer the phone, an SMS or email should be as effective.

Herbert added that residents in his Ward can contact him at any time of the day, and although he will help everyone, he is more enthusiastic about helping people who are polite toward him.
