Yaseen: the next Ronaldinho?

EMMERENTIA- Every football youngster’s dream is to be part of a successful football academy that will build and groom them. Jeanette Chabalala and Ancillar Mangena caught up with 10 year old Yaseen Boda who will be joining Asernal’s Football Club Academy this July.

Fast enough to be likened to the speed of lightning, Emmarentia resident Yaseen Boda will be among football’s greatest in Asernal from 30 July until 11 August.

“I am very excited about going to Arsenal, it is a great opportunity because the club is a good way of learning,” says Yaseen.

Meeting at Rosebank Mall, Yaseen and his parents shared the youngster’s excitement to join – what is arguably– one of the best football academies in the world.

Yaseen’ father Yasuf Boda, says he is inspired by how his child plays; he believes that is always good to stay motivated.

“He has been very good since the age of six and he has been improving ever since,” says Yusuf.

“He is dedicated; in six years he has only missed four training sessions when he was ill,” adds Yusuf.

Yaseen started playing football at the age of five and already at age 10 he is making waves on the soccer field.

His coach Stephen Cloete from Old Paktonian Sports Club in Randburg said, “Yaseen is an incredible child; he always plays from the heart. He is quick, and scores goals from nothing.”

Cloete also mentioned that Yaseen was chosen because of his abilities and performance.

Excited for the impending journey that her son is about to partake in, Roshan Boda could not resist showing her joy.

“Even when we are fasting he makes sure to play, he is very motivated,” says Roshan.

Yaseen looks forward to the meet and greet session with some of the Arsenal players and watching the team play live for the first time.

“I am excited about the matches we are going to see and all the fun stuff we will do,” says the young soccer star.

The Arsenal Football Club Academy is the youth team of Arsenal Football Club. They currently play in the Professional Development League, the highest level of youth football in England.
