Sparrow Schools’s spinathon with The Fresh Drive team

MILPARK – Sparrow Schools hosted its fourth annual Spinathon fundraiser, supported by 5FM's The Fresh Drive show team.

All trainers and sports gear were out during Sparrow Schools’ fourth annual Spinathon fundraiser held at Virgin Active, in Milpark.

The spinathon is an initiative to raise funds for Sparrow Schools’ Educate A Child programme (EAC) – a school fee subsidy plan for its learners. Each participants contributed R100 to spin for an hour. The 5FM’s Fresh Drive Show team joined the school and spun away in support for the good cause. Catherine Grenfell started her session at 9am while her colleague DJ Fresh (Thato Sikwane), took the 11am session.

“We wanted our supporters to feel fulfilled for making a difference in a child’s life while contributing towards their own fitness plans,” said Pearl Nkosi, the fundraising assistant at Sparrow Schools.

The Sparrow Schools Educational Trust is a non-profit organisation based in Sophiatown, and it provides affordable and specialised education to disadvantaged youth with barriers to learning. Its foundation and combined schools cater for grades 1 to 9 pupils.

The Educate a Child programme allows individuals to donate R100 a month or R1200 a year in order to provide a child with learning barriers get access to affordable quality education.
