The city of gold is no stranger to music festivals, and party animals can look forward to a new festival later this year.

The inaugural I Heart Joburg Music Festival is set to kick off with a massive line-up that includes international stars Jason Derulo, Jessie J and Fallout Boy.

The first local band announced as part of the line-up was Crash Car Burn.

“The [festival will be] an uninterrupted 12-hour musical explosion dedicated to the beautiful city of Johannesburg,” said founder and event organiser Louis Steynn of Steyn Entertainment.

“[It] promises the biggest entertainment line-up to hit the shores of southern Africa. Festival goers can expect an eclectic mix of six local and six international superstars across various genres.”

More artists will be announced in the build-up to the festival.

“The I Heart Joburg Music Festival will be an event unlike any other, with a killer line-up, amazing experiential areas and some history-making moments that you want to be a part of,” said Steyn.

The festival will take place on 6 September at Ellis Park Stadium, 44 Staib Street, Doornfontein, from sunrise until sunset.

Tickets will go on sale on 30 April.
