AUCKLAND PARK - 5FM says goodbye to valued station manager.

5FM’s youngest station manager is heading to TV Park.

Appointed to the position of station manager of the radio station at the age of 29 in 2010, Aisha Mohammed leaves 5FM for further growth under the SABC stable. She has accepted a senior position within the commercial portfolio at SABC TV.

Under Mohammed’s careful guidance, first as marketing manager and then station manager, 5FM’s growth was reflected in its extraordinary cross-cultural listenership. The station also experienced growth of more than a million new loyal listeners to reach its highest audience to date of 2 355 million listeners.

Mohammed was instrumental in rolling out the 2010 FIFA World Cup programming on the station, the around the clock programming and coverage of the death of former President Nelson Mandela, as well as the strategic delivery of a fresh youthful offering in the station’s content and line-up year on year.

“I’ve been blessed over the last four years to have held the title of station manager,” said Mohammed. “I have had many amazing experiences with the station, and whilst I leave the station, the brand will always remain in my heart. It has been an exceptionally rewarding challenge and I look forward to the next chapter in my career at the SABC. ”
