Community needs to stand together

Leisl-Mae Fourie, chairman of the Linden Community Association, invites residents of Linden to join the association.

The Linden Community Association calls on all residents of Linden to get involved for a good cause.

“Initially the association started as a block watch,” said the association’s chairman Leisl-Mae Fourie. “However, over time that has changed because we have had other issues besides security that affect our community. This includes water, electricity and other service delivery issues.”

Fourie stated that it was important that people knew of the positive impact the association could have on them. “We urge residents to join the association. It is free of charge. All they would have to do is attend meetings and be a part of solving any problem’s we have as a community, the best way they can.”

The aim of the association is to unite the Linden community. “When community members have a close relationship and all neighbours get along, criminals will find it hard to target any house in that community. Neighbours in each street could have a street watch that will help fight the crime and keep the community updated about any suspicious people and cars.”

The next meeting will be on 19 February at the Linden Bowling Club at 6.30pm. “We welcome any new members and encourage people to get more involved with the association.”
