Flash flood fun

MELVILLE - Stormy weather leaves Johannesburg with rivers and ponds everywhere.

Joburg awoke to heavy overnight rains that brought the work week to a slow and soggy start.

With a tragic plane crash at Lanseria airport in Randburg, taxi drivers protesting with a go slow on already water-logged roads and cloudy weather resulting in low visibility everywhere safety is of utmost importance.

We asked out BBM friends about the situation in their area, here are the comments and pictures they shared:

Tumza: Cloudy here in Sophiatown, nice weather though. The rain stopped just now.

Patty: Was hectic this morning with the taxi strike going on and the flooded roads. I got to work an hour late, soaking wet but I’m alive.

Marieta: I’m at Rainbow Pre-primary in Greymont, busy with class. Looks like the rain has stopped.

Amanda (Councillor, Ward 87): Flooded pavements on 7th Street in Melville due to blocked drains reported to the Johannesburg Road Agency several times in the past year.
