WRA welcomes commune residents

WESTDENE - As University reopens students are urged to get involved with the community they board in.

The Westdene Residents Association would like to welcome all commune residents to the suburb. Here is some advice that might contribute to you having a pleasant experience in the suburb:

Get to know your neighbours

  • Introduce yourself to the neighbours, exchange contact details. If your street has a street committee or a Whatsapp group we encourage you to join and get involved.
  • Join the Residents Association, a valuable source of information. Often they will be able to assist you in solving problems or give you direction.
  • The Residents Association has a newsletter that keeps the community updated on what is happening in the suburb. Subscribe through the website listed below.

Safety

Like all residents you have to take responsibility for your own personal security and also contribute to the safety of the area:

  • Join the Westdene Sector Crime Forum.
  • If possible avoid walking after dark or walk in groups. Hide your valuables, like laptops and mobile phones. Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Report suspicious activity to the police immediately.
  • You can also alert your street committee through the channels they use (Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp).
