A baby’s corpse was found dumped in a dustbin near an open veld in Northcliff last week.
According to Sophiatown police spokesperson Warrant Officer Jarbis De Bruyn, the body was found by a Pikitup employee while collecting refuse as per normal at the corner of Rock Cliff and Hollywood Drive on 2 December.
Mzanzi Emergency Services paramedics arrived at the scene just before 6pm to a sight of a miniature corpse wrapped in a blue towel, with the umbilical cord still attached.
“A Concealment of Birth case had been opened against the perpetrator whose identity is unknown and no arrest has been made,” De Bruyn said.
