Hotel Hope turns five

SANDTON - Hotel Hope Ministries celebrates its birthday at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

Hotel Hope ministries celebrated its fifth birthday in style at the Radisson Blu Hotel on 10 October.

The event featured a cocktails and Canapés session a top of the range auction and dessert to conclude the evening, accompanied by the live performance of a young quartet, Out of the Blue.

Hotel Hope Ministries is a non-profit organisation that runs two foster homes for orphaned and abandoned children while encouraging adoption, preferably within South African borders. In addition, it has two charity shops and a Mothers in Crisis programme that deals with pregnant teenagers from four schools in Alexandra.

Prior to his thank you speech, founder Oliver Quambusch mentioned the progress that the Mothers in crisis programme is making.

“Our aim from the start, in the Mothers in Crisis Pregnancy situation, was to equip the mothers to be able to look after themselves and their children. It gives me a huge amount of pleasure to announce that out of the 1 800 pregnancies that we have witnessed and helped through, not a single child has ended up in our foster home to be adopted into another family,” Quambush revealed.

Quambusch added that they have taken care of some children for a few months while they prepare the mothers for parenthood. The children have since been returned to their biological mothers.

Hotel Hope has also been able to place abandoned and orphaned children in adoptive homes successfully.

The NPO’s chairman, Charles Pitt, said his child Phindi, was a gift made possible by Hotel Hope.

“I have received the most precious gift from Hotel Hope. I really did not plan to adopt a child, it sort of just happened.”

Hotel Hope managed to raise more than R100 000 through the auction, the proceeds of which will go towards the children’s essentials.

Quambusch extended his gratitude to various churches that have worked with him, Montessori schools, Accounting Firm KPMG and for people’s prayers, among other equally significant organisations and contributors.
