RANDBURG - 11 Passengers survive serious crash with minor injuries

Bystanders help injured passengers out of taxi before paramedics arrived.

The driver of a fully laden taxi lost control of the vehicle on 1st Street in Randburg in the early morning hours of 23 October.

The vehicle rolled and 12 people sustained various injuries during the accident.

“Paramedics were called to the scene and found that the taxi had rolled up against the pavement, crashed through the traffic lights at 5th Avenue and then crashed through a wall at the side of the road,” ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said.

Fortunately, none of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle, but when paramedics arrived they found bystanders assisting the injured out of the wreckage.”

One man sustained injuries to his head but he remained conscious and alert throughout the ordeal. Paramedics mentioned that he was deemed to be in a serious condition. The remaining 11 passengers were lucky enough to only have suffered minor injuries.

“All of the passengers received appropriate treatment on scene and were then transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance.”

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, local authorities attended to the scene for further investigation.
