Jeanetta Basson receives Paul Harris Fellow award

NORTHCLIFF- Rotary International honours Jeanetta Basson.

Once a visitor from Colorado in the USA, Jeanetta Basson fell in love with the community in Zandspruit.Rotary Foundation of Rotary International named Jeanetta Basson a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation of her significant assistance to the furtherance of friendly relations among people of the world.

The Paul Harris Fellow award recognizes community members whose lives demonstrate a shared purpose with the objects and mission of the Rotary Foundation; to build world understanding and peace. It is the highest recognition available from Rotary International.

On her return to Colorado Springs in 2001 she resigned from her job in the corporate world to head back to South Africa. She saw that there was enough talent within our communities to run and sustain projects.

The Woodmen Valley Chapel in the states assisted Basson in purchasing the buildings which were to become the Zandspruit Emthonjeni Community Centre, which opened its doors in 2002. Through her leadership, passion and drive Emthonjeni has grown into a beacon of hope for Zandspruit and its 70 000 residents. The dynamic Basson has started over 15 sustainable projects in Zandspruit.
