Spar donates to Abraham Kriel Childcare

Managing director of Spar on Stanley Johan Nel marked the beginning of a relationship with Abraham Kriel childcare's Risidale campus on 30 September.

He committed himself to providing the Risidale home with weekly goodies to prevent them from going to waste and to give them to the people who might need them the most.

“Rather than throwing it away, it is better to give it to the people who will utilise it in a manner that will benefit them,” Nel said.

Louis Grobler of Security in Practice introduced Nel to the Risidale campus after conversations with Geanitha Pretorius, a lady who often assists at the childcare. “as a result of a discussion that Geanitha and I had over a braai when she mentioned the home in Risidale, it hit me that we have so much and 200m away from us, there are people who have so much less,” said Grobler.

“In turn, I had a discussion with Johan and suggested that we all get together, seeing as we are form the same area, and help the people who cannot help themselves,” Grobler added.

Marketing manager of the Risidale campus, Hilda du Toit, appreciates the kind of donation that Nel is offering.

“I am very grateful for this kind of on-going donation because our service is on-going and we always need basic food for the children in our care,” du Toit said.

“We are really grateful that Johan is of a similar mind, and that Louis mentioned us to him.”
