The Fairland Post Office has moved, much to the annoyance of residents who visited the Spar on Smit Street as usual hoping to do their postal transactions.
“To just move out without any information being given in advance is just typical of our State enterprises,” said resident Hugh Morgan.
“Surely it must cause distress to many who are used to this Post Office being in the Spar. In addition the hours have been considerably reduced.”
When contacted a teller at the post office explained that though the move has inconvenienced many customers, they too received short notice and were unaware of the move until the last minute.
“We got notice from our head office on a Thursday that we were to be out at the end of that week. We’ve been in this new location since the Monday after.”
He also noted that no notifications were put up at the old site, also instructed by their head office.
The Fairland Post Office is now located at Fairland Centre on the corner of Fourteenth Avenue and Wilson Street. They are open Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm and Saturday 8am to 12pm.
