Moviethon for A good cause

MELVILLE - Pupils raise funds for children's home.

Five students from Orban School in Westdene and another from the Sparrow School in Melville used the first day of the school holidays to raise money for orphaned and abandoned children at Hotel Hope.

The children from grade R to grade six asked friends, family and loved-ones to sponsor them for every movie they could watch in a movie marathon. Six movies and nine hours later they had raised R2812 thanks to the generosity of several donors.

Ruth Nkosi, a social worker at the home in Melville commented, “This is a very innovative and fun way to raise funds for underprivileged children. We salute these young social entrepreneurs and wish them well, both at school as in life.”
