The bold and beautiful body

NEWTOWN – Sci-Bono hosts its new Body Worlds Vital exhibition to amazed guests.

Sci-Bono welcomed the public to a new and bold exhibit on 1 March where they showed the human body in all its wonder. The exhibit called Body Worlds Vital is presented by Discovery and it shows the inner workings of the human body one might take for granted.

The event was lead by curator and designer of the body world exhibition, Dr Angelina Whalley who welcomed the guests to an exhibit she said would make people understand what makes them tick. She went on to add that the showcase will help people develop a different view of their body. “At previous exhibits, at least, nine per cent of people who attended the exhibit quit smoking,” said Dr Whalley.

Dr Whalley went onto explain that through the spectacle the audience realises what treasure they have in their bodies. She also said that through their tour of the bodies, they would see both healthy and diseased bodies – showing the results of the different lifestyles people prescribe to.”Our body is the only place we get to live our lives and we have to take care of our bodies,” said Dr Whalley

She went on to divulge that this exhibition only exists because of specimens who donated their bodies in hopes that others would take something positive away from it. Be it to adopt a new lifestyle or educate someone about the effects of a healthier lifestyle.”The people who donated their bodies wanted to affect change and in doing so help future generations make better life decisions,” said Dr Whalley.

The exhibit will run in Johannesburg until 19 June and then will travel to Cape Town from 9 August to 23 October.
