James and the Giant Peach at the National Children’s Theatre

If you’re looking for fun-filled entertainment and exciting theatre for your children, don’t miss James and the Giant Peach on stage until 23 December at the National Children’s Theatre. The production was created especially to entertain children during the school holidays. The show has promised to be exciting, magical, heartwarming and sure to spark a child’s imagination. Fairy Dust – A Family Magic Show in Linden

Until 15 December, an exciting and larger-than-life one-hour family magic show will be hosted at the NG Kerk in Linden. The show by illusionist Vicus Cruywagen promises to keep children and even adults on the edge of their seats. The production promises to take the crowd to an interactive world of magic, illusion, comedy and mystery. The show starts at 10am and costs R40 per person.

Night Christmas Market in Dainfern

Until 12 December, a magical Christmas Night Market will be hosted at Dainfern Square. The square will be transformed into an atmospheric Christmas market with festively decorated stalls. The French-style Christmas market will offer a selection of handmade decorations, gourmet delights and Christmas gifts. The market takes place on Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm until 8pm and on Saturdays from 9am until 4pm. There is no entrance cost.

Christmas cheer mixed with Blues at TJ’s

TJ’s Acoustic Club will be hosting their last show for the year on 3 December in Emmarentia. The show will be a mixture of some groovy blues and Christmas-flavoured cheer. The show starts at 8pm and only cost R25. Come and enjoy a night of delicious food, fantastic music and nice people. Do not miss this hilarious act on 4 December at The Globe, Silverstar Casino, if you are a comedy fanatic. Jeff Ross will be roasted, as part of the International Comedy Festival by other comedians such as Celeste Ntuli, Dusty Rich, Chris Forrest, Trevor Gumbi, Dillan Oliphant and John Vlismas. Swan Lake on Ice at Montecasino

The spectacular Swan Lake will be introduced in a new way by a breath-taking performance on ice. The Russian-composed performance on ice takes place from 3 December until 10 January at the Pieter Toerien Teatro in Montecasino and has promised to intrigue the crowd. The ice stars have received standing ovations in 15 different countries and have received the Best Special Entertainment Award at the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards. Tickets cost between R100 to R400. Show times are on Tuesdays to Fridays at 7.30pm; Saturdays at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and on Sundays at 5.30pm.

Jozi Real Food Market at Pirates

This is the ultimate hot-spot where you can experience a variety of gourmet food in the sun. The market takes place from 8.30am until 1pm on 5 December at the Pirates Sports Club. The outdoor venue creates a perfect spot for the whole family to enjoy. Sport can be watched and children can play on the jumping castles or wide open grass space. There is no entrance fee for the market so just go on and enjoy yourself at this fantastic outdoor experience.

Creed’s Scott Stapp live at Zoo Lake

On 15 December, the lead singer of the legendary rock band, Creed, will perform live for the first time ever in South Africa at Zoo Lake in Parkview. Scott Stapp co-founded Creed and achieved major commercial success in the late ’90s with singles such as With Arms Wide Open, My Sacrifice, One last Breath and Higher. Creed released three consecutive multi-platinum albums, of which Human Clay was certified diamond. Gates open at 12pm and tickets are priced at R475.
