Over 300 people lined up outside Mark’s Park in Emmarentia on 31 October to audition for the first season of The Voice South Africa.
Ingrid Engelbrecht, the publicity manager for M-Net’s local shows, said that the auditions were the first stage of the competition and contestants who made the cut would go on to the blind auditions.
“After the blind auditions each coach will have about 12 contestants in their team and thereafter they choose two contestants from their team to battle it out against each other until there is only one contestant standing,” she said. She added that after the blind auditions viewers can then vote for their favourite contestants. Engelbrecht said that the winner will win a recording deal with Universal Records.
