GALLERY: Artist works magic with glass

WESTDENE – Tanja Bousquet transforms glass into art.

Tanja Bousquet has set out to create unique works of art from glass.

The Westdene resident explained that she always wanted to create art and use her hands to do so. The medium of glass has given Bousquet the opportunity to create a wide array of different items, ranging from necklaces to bangles.

She pointed out that self-discipline in balancing her personal life and professional career has become essential in promoting the inspirational process of creating her items.

Her advice for aspiring young artists is to be resourceful with the management of their talents. “When you need a plan, go to the drawing board and make one. A business plan sometime makes sense. If it doesn’t work, there should always be a way of changing it. My motto has always been to stay positive,” she said.

Friend and work colleague Deon de Lange described Bousquet’s work and use of colours as subtle and striking. “Her simplistic designs always make a poignant statement,” he said.

De Lange has been stocking Bousquet creations at his shop, Concrete Jungle, in Melville.
