GALLERY and VIDEO: Rocking at Sowing the Seeds

EMMARENTIA – The Sowing the Seeds Music and Lifestyle Festival recently hosted a line-up of local and international music acts.

Emmarentia Dam hosted a kaleidoscope of local and international music talent at the Sowing the Seeds Music and Lifestyle Festival on 21 March. Large crowds of fans gathered at the stage to enjoy the live entertainment provided by Seed Experiences. The sponsors and partners of the event were Jacaranda FM, Lucozade, and Flying Fish SA.

The festival kicked off with Cape Town-based indie electronic rock band Diamond Thug, who provided relaxed music to early festival-goers.

Lead singer Chantel Van Tonder was very excited at the opportunity to open for the festival.

“We are very excited to be able to play our music to such an appreciative audience. The line-up is such an awesome mixture of local and international artists,” she said.

Eastern Cape-based musician Bongeziwe Mabandla and his band gave a soulful performance, which had audiences swaying in unison. Mabandla was humbled by the large turn-out of the audience.

“I really appreciate the support from all of the festival-goers,” he said.

Popular Johannesburg indie rock band ShortStraw offered a high beat change to the festival proceedings. Attending fans went ecstatic as they performed their hit song Bikini Weather.

On the other hand, Pretoria-based indie rock band Desmond and the Tutus performed their set of songs and spun a spellbinding rendition of their song Siem SalaBiem.

The international acts that performed at the festival were American rock band Portugal. The Man and Scottish singer, songwriter, and musician Paolo Nutini . Much to the excitement of attending fans both these international acts delivered stellar performances.

Organiser at Seed Experiences Kate Ackerman said, “We are very proud to be able to showcase such impressive local and international talent at the festival. We are very thankful towards everyone supporting the festival,” she said.
