Robbers target Emmarentia business

Four men robbed the Zafar Bakery on Barry Hertzog Avenue in Emmerentia at 8.45am on 31 July.

According to the Parkview Police Station spokesperson Princess Mudau, one of the men went in the store to purchase airtime. While the victim was standing behind the counter helping the man, two armed men came in and demanded money from him. Another one followed and went into the store’s kitchen.

“They took a safe which had an estimated amount of R15 000 behind the counter and six cellular phones worth about R10 000 altogether.”

Fortunately no shots were fired and no one was injured.

The victim who preferred to remain anonymous said he didn’t get the opportunity to see the direction the suspects went towards, or whether they had a vehicle because they locked him inside the kitchen and fled.

Mudau said no one has been arrested yet, but the police are investigating the matter.
