The Northcliff Rotary Club recently held an induction ceremony, welcoming two new members and electing Ragu Govender as their new president. The event was filled with excitement and celebration, with a focus on community initiatives and achievements.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as Govender took the stage to deliver his speech, emphasising the event’s focus on celebrating achievements, new projects, and community initiatives.

“I extend my thanks to all those who have contributed to the success of the event.” During the proceedings, he proudly announced the members of his new board, showcasing a team of dedicated individuals ready to serve the broader Northcliff community.

Additionally, the induction of new members, Nicky White and David Marshall, highlighted the club’s commitment to expanding its reach and impact. A poignant moment unfolded as the former president of the club, Rita Millan, symbolically passed the chain of leadership to the new president.

Congratulations poured in, from his collegues, for the new president, who wholeheartedly celebrated his induction, and the new chapter of his leadership.

Govender stated that the induction was vibrant, with a diverse audience from various backgrounds and vocations, celebrating the Rotary year. Apart from the formal programme, attendees spent time in fellowship and socialising with new people.

This year’s induction ceremony also held a special significance as it included the prestigious Paul Harris award, recognising outstanding community members for their contributions. Andre Swanepoel from the Community Cleaners and Andre Aiton from Beagle Watch were the recipients of the award, for their ongoing community improvement work.

This act marked a seamless transition in the club’s leadership, ensuring continuity and a strong foundation for future endeavours. President and CEO of Sasol, Simon Baloyi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the club for their unwavering service and acts of selflessness. He emphasised the value of ‘service above self’, acknowledging the club’s role as a beacon of hope within the community.
