Roosevelt High School twitchers have a ball
Several learners and a couple of teachers have been enjoying the Kruger over the holidays.
The Roosevelt High School’s inaugural bird-watching club expedition set the bar high for future trips.
Teacher Christo Swart hosts a weekly birdwatching club every Friday afternoon and no two weeks are ever the same. Learners are always taken somewhere in the city where they are likely to spot some birds in their natural environment, like the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, Alberts Farm or Delta Park.
On this trip, they trekked all the way to the Kruger National Park where some serious birdwatching has been going on.
Staying in chalets at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp, the group enjoyed daily game drives, birding sessions and picnics over the southern parts of the park. At night, while making and enjoying meals like braaibroodjies, teachers and learners have a chance to spend some quality time together.
