Mother hopes for her son`s safe return

He went missing when he was 14 and he turned 15 last month.

“I sometimes sit and cry when my daughters ask me about him and it is hard for me as a mom, because I always ask myself if he eats, bathes, and is safe wherever he is”.

These are the heartfelt words of a mother from Claremont, Shamiela Hedricks (40) who is pleading for help in finding her son.

It has been one year and three months since Jamaloodien Hendricks (15) who suffers from ADHD ( attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) has gone missing. He went missing when was 14 years old and he turned 15 last month.

Jamaloodien went missing last year on April 25. He was last seen wearing red shorts, a BNW skipper, blue and white sleepers, a black jacket, a red, navy, and white hat and white socks, and playing soccer outside.

Jamaloodien was described by his mother as a happy kid.

This has been the worst time for his mother and four sisters.

In praying for his safe return, the family held a light white candle service in Claremont recently.

“When I’m alone I pray, cry and ask God why and when will he be back; it’s hard for me. My daughters also ask me lots of questions like when is he coming home because they miss him,” Shamiela wept.

She expressed that the police are not doing enough to help them to look and get him home safely.

“We looked for my boy – me, my friend and her husband – day and night and we could not find him and it has been over a year now. The police only came to help us look for him for a few hours when he was a month missing.”

His presence is missed a lot – “The noise that he used to make, sending him to shop, cooking, baking, cleaning.”

Cracking jokes, while playing with his sisters, is one of the things they mostly remember him by.

“He was very caring and did everything with an open heart and love.”
