A 20-year-old aspiring lawyer

Mehlomakhulu believes that studying law allows her to have a significant impact on society.

My name is Anathi Mehlomakhulu, I am 20 years old, and I am currently doing my second year in BA Law at the University of Johannesburg.

I chose law because I was good at formulating historical arguments back in high school, and I thought it would help me acquire the skills to make a difference in the world.

I believe that studying law would allow me to have a significant impact on society. I was always fascinated by the power of words and how they could be used to persuade others. My passion for history and politics also played a role in my decision to pursue law.

I wanted to understand how the legal system worked and how it could be used to promote justice and equality. As I dug deeper into my studies, I realised that being a lawyer was not just about winning arguments or making money. It was about using my skills and knowledge to help those who needed legal representation.

Whether it was fighting for the rights of those who can`t stand up for themselves or advocating for environmental protection, I knew that my work as a lawyer could make a real difference in people’s lives. While the road ahead may be challenging, I am confident that my decision to study law was the right one, and I am excited to see where this journey takes me.
