Tumelo Lenono wants to inspire young people from his community positively

Following my passion is what I love to do. It gives me hope and it motivates me to become a great person.

Meet Tumelo Lenono:

My name is Tumelo Lenono and my stage name is Hoodie Hefner.
I`m originally from Bloemfontein and am currently based in Northcliff. I’m a rapper and I want to inspire the youth with my songs because many young people turn to drugs and alcohol. I want to encourage them that substance abuse is not a solution.

Growing up was not difficult because I had both parents. My dad inspired me to take music very seriously. I started rapping in high school and I’ve always loved performing for my classmates.

I`ve been doing music for more than five years. Last year, because my parents could not afford to pay my fees, I dropped out of Boston College where I was studying music theory and fundamentals. One day, I want to go back to school to finish my studies. I am hoping to raise money through my music so I can do so.

I love music and everything that has got to do with it. I released my first single last year, The prezzie said it and it touches on loyalty and real people. I am currently pushing my music and making a living out of it.

I believe that my sound is unique because I’m not trying to copy other people’s rapping styles. My biggest dream is to get recognition and assist other upcoming rappers from the townships to get their music recognised too.

I believe that one day, I will share a stage with big artists such as Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C.
