Samantha is a true reflection of an amazing community

The NPO founder shares on her passion for the youth and how she hopes to aid to her community.

The name Samantha Toweel-More has become synonymous with nurturer among those who know her.

Founder of NPO Growing Champions she is simply known as ‘coach Sam’ to the change leaders she engages with daily.

But what shaped the woman whose work is to help reshape the world of children born into danger?

From spending family time seated around her mother’s kitchen table to enjoy the best breakfasts in town, to Sunday hikes with her husband, being active with her son or dancing with her daughter, Sam’s first love is her family and the family she has created through her non-profit.

Children have played a pivotal role in her life through their innocence, joyfulness, honesty and adventurous spirits. Growing up she was taught the value of human dignity, justice and life. “I have always found children to be in need of a voice in the world,” she said.

The Fairlands resident loves her community because to her there is no other that offers a park where one can bring your pets, shops where one can find pet treats and toys, and be with your neighbours to share a book exchange. “You can take a book home and replace it with another for someone to enjoy. Friendly Fairlands is a place where I have felt safe and completely embraced in kindness,” she said.

Toweel-More has learned that the people of Fairlands and Northcliff are generous. “They go out of their way to see how they can make life wonderful for the next person. When I first began Growing Champions NPO our youth had so many needs, and places like MV Cafe and Rocomamas Cresta Crossing made it their business to make the children brave enough to move away from home to forge a new life.”

She aims to match all the generosity she receives from the community. “I hope to meet neighbours and share the incredible hope I see in the eyes of our future leaders.” She also aspires for community members to create a ‘village for our youth, a place where we all work together to uplift each other through sharing our talents’.

“I hope to help my community to learn to be positive and realise love is the one thing you don’t lose when you give it away. When you put love into the equation your profits multiply.”
