The Fairland CPF wishes all residents and businesses a safe and prosperous 2023

The CPF had a bumper 2022 which saw fundraising efforts exceed expectations which will enable the body to build on successes and help police even more.

Chairman of the Fairland CPF Gulam Karim has extended good wishes for the new year as they continue their fight against crime in the precinct and support the police in combating criminal activity.

“We remain positive as the CPF to continue our responsibility to represent the interests of the community in the Fairland SAPS precinct. This is done primarily by keeping them abreast of crime trends and how to mitigate some of the threats from potential criminals.”

He reiterated the call for everyone to remain vigilant at all times as criminals wait for opportunities that are sometimes created by the people who make opportunistic crime easier.

Karim said, “The greater need from all of us is to join hands as a collective, irrespective of our cultural and religious identities to combat crime as a unified community. Together we can defeat the scourge of crime. Let us put aside the petty differences and egos, that destroy all our initiatives. If we work together as a team, it does not matter who ‘scores the goal’ as long as we win this battle as a united group.”

He said the CPF and all its partners are taking the boost that a new year brings to work with greater determination to ensure criminal elements have no safe places to hide or operate.

He lauded the commitment and hard work of their community patrollers, victim support unit, and other volunteers for the sterling work they did last year which was a year of growth and increased service to the community they all work on behalf of. “Through our various fundraising activities, we have amassed a health bank balance which we will use for projects to improve service delivery and performance even further.”

Karim also called for greater participation in their monthly public meetings this year as it is a good way for residents, private security companies, and the police to share important information and to be kept abreast of issues in the precinct.

“We wish all residents in the Fairland SAPS precinct a more prosperous and successful year than the one just passed. If we love and appreciate others and ourselves, then life can be a wonderful joyous gift.”
