Buddy the Budgie is home after he escaped
Fairland resident rescues bird and reunites him with owners in Weltevreden Park.
Buddy, a beautiful Budgie has had an exciting week after being rescued after he flew away last week.
He lives in Weltevreden Park with owner Diedre de Roock and was rescued by a Fairland resident who posted on social media which resulted in him being reunited with his family.
A post on a community Facebook group was seen by de Roock’s husband. They immediately made contact and went to fetch their beloved pet.
He was also found by de Roock who said, “He was not used to being handled when we rescued him three months ago. I saw him on our lawn eating seeds because he was so hungry. We brought him in and searched all over for any owners but could not find any. He is now slowly becoming accustomed to touch and being in our home.”
They have another bird called Storm, a Cockatiel who is trying to become his friend, but it will take time for them to form a close bond.
