JMPD and Fidelity ADT arrest driver in Fairland who stole vehicle in Randburg

The man will now face the courts after being caught in a stolen vehicle and with two signal jammers.

JMPD officers arrested a man found in possession of a stolen vehicle which also contained two signal-jamming devices.

The arrest on 14th Avenue in Fairland happened after Fidelity ADT security officials flagged down the JMPD officers to alert them to the stolen Lexus vehicle.

“Together they apprehended the man who it turns out had been released on bail the day before on charges also related to car theft,” Fairland Police Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Clive de Freitas.

The stolen vehicle contained two car jammers used by criminals to block signals from remotes that people use to lock their cars.

Xolani Fihla, JMPD spokesperson said, “The security officials explained to our officers that the vehicle was stolen in the suburb of Malanshof in Randburg. The suspect was found to be in possession of the stolen vehicle and the jammers.

The man was arrested and detained at Fairland SAPS. The stolen vehicle was seized and booked in at the SAPS Aeroton pound for further verification.”
