Hope Hotel soon to open its doors in Melville

Hotel Hope shares the exciting news that it will be growing its foster homes.

A safe space to call home is what every child in our community needs.

Hotel Hope has been a safe haven for abandoned children for a number of years, changing the lives of our most vulnerable with the simple gesture of showing love and safety.

Come July 18, this need to give a safe space will show itself once again through a great expansion. Oliver Quambusch, the organisation’s founder, explained they will open another foster home in Melville for orphaned and abandoned children. “A beautiful three-bedroom home in the leafy suburb is currently being re-fitted for this purpose and it’s all hands on deck.”

Quambusch said overgrown trees on the property have been felled, broken toilets have been replaced, floors and leaking roofs are being attended to and the Hotel Hope team has refurbished the cottage to make it liveable for a staff member.

“We currently see a high number of orphaned and abandoned children as a direct consequence of Covid-19 and the reduction in economic activity, this new home, which will bring our overall capacity to 30 children, will help us help those who need it most. I think Mandela would be delighted that we have chosen the day of his birth to open another home. In his words, ‘The true character of society is revealed in how it treats its children’.”
