A special day, for special women in our community

LINDEN – To celebrate women, Little Ashford Linden hosted some of our community's most formidable women for a high tea.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Little Ashford Linden hosted a select group of women to a high tea at the Linden Police Station.

The women invited to the event were members of the CPF, those in the police force as well as the first responders of the station’s victim support unit.

Andy Swanepoel, principal of Little Ashford Linden, said she just wanted to be part of a day that centred around celebrating these women, as they acknowledged the work, all they do for the community, “Letting them know that they are seen.”

The guests, as usual, all looked beautiful as they gathered for tea and spoils which they tucked into while they listened to the day’s two speakers, Zandile Ndaba and Nicole Sean-Petyt who both spoke about distinctly different topics. One spoke of the power behind one’s fashion while the other spoke of social responsibility.
“As a group of diverse women we all have different interests and it was important to showcase that today,” said Swanepoel.

Adding to the day were the heartfelt donations – Pinnacle Linden donated most of the confectionery, Stat-Tiakeni Medical donated the beverages and Fairland-based, The Home Shop, donated all the chairs and table cloths.

From their time spent being made to feel special, Swanepoel hoped the women took with them a sense of motivation to continue the good work they have always been doing all while knowing they are loved and appreciated, “Hopefully, this inspires them to keep doing more, share more ideas and making a difference.”
