Adopt-a-Cop launched

LINDEN – Learners welcomed back to school by the police and some safety tips.

Police to adopt schools to ensure 2022 is a safe academic year.

Linden Police Station’s officers and members will be embarking on their Adopt-a-Cop project as schools reopened on January 12. According to the station’s spokesperson, Sergeant Takalani Sibiya, the project will have members at the station adopt a school around their area to support them in relation to safety and security.

“The safety of the children remain the top priority for the Linden police as the academic year commences. The programme called Adopt-a-Cop started on January 12 as the acting Station Commander Colonel Pranay Bedessie and all the officers under his command visited all the schools around the Linden area.”

The learners were welcomed back to their schools with an address by the police about the danger of using drugs and alcohol, bullying and theft from the schools.

The project is part of the annual safety programmes at the start of the year and the station has committed itself to ensure a safe learning environment for the children in their precinct.
