Linden CPF is selling hashtags

LINDEN – This in an effort to raise money for the Victims Support team.

To raise much-needed funds to keep its Victim Support team running, the Linden CPF is hosting a #hashtag sale.

The forum’s interim chairperson Annelize Tichauer explained this initiative would give businesses within their precinct the opportunity to be tagged in every post the forum made. She said the money generated through the fundraising would go towards maintaining the Victim Support phones that were available all hours of the day throughout the year.

“Lockdown has made a big dent in our account with many sponsors pulling out, unfortunately, the work that needs to be done did not go away,” she added.

She said the forum’s account was fully audited and all donations were recorded, and corporate sponsors were given a donation letter as well as a sponsorship certificate to display in their business. The forum is said to reach about 10 000 residents via their various social media channels.

“All the CPF members and Victim Support volunteers are residents of the Linden SAPS precinct, and they give their time, energy and love and often their own resources free of charge to the community.”

Tichauer believed the CPF’s Victim Support was the beating heart of Linden police and said though the crime had increased in the country, there were still good Samaritans who have dedicated their time and resources to offer assistance to victims of crime.

“The Linden Police Station and CPF work closely with the victim support group and volunteers go through a training session, and are then allocated to different crime scenes according to their profile.”
The role of a trained volunteer is to act as a buffer between the officer and the victim.

There are varying prices for the hashtag sale and to see these, browse the Linden CPF’s social media sites.
