Jacaranda Run athletes paint the town purple

LINDEN – For the second time the event was hosted by Linden Runner and this annual event is fast becoming a must attend within the community.

Recently the second annual Jacaranda Run, hosted by by Linden Runner, was attended by 350 local runners and community members.

The streets were covered with a purple carpet, as the jacaranda flowers rained down on runners who came out in their colourful attire to enjoy this community event.

Linden Runner chairperson Estie van Heerden said, “We were so fortunate to get the timing just right for a stellar event. Our race photographer, SMacPix, captured the event, and all our runners have at least some beautiful pictures for their 2022 wall. We would like to thank all the runners who attended, the community who came out to support us and to all the friends of Linden Runner who helped and created yet another successful hosting.”

She added that the 21km route proved most popular with athletes and an early start ensured athletes could finish before scorching temperatures predicted on the day. Castle Light and Castle Zero managed the finishing area and rewarded each finisher with an ice-cold beverage. Runners spent the remainder of the morning on the Linden Bowling Club lawns relaxing.

“Watching everyone laughing, running and enjoying our neighbourhood, embodies our ethos at Linden Runner. Our goal is to offer an event that does not intimidate the weekend runner and active family. We want everyone to get active, and promote the sport of running. Creating a platform in our area where you can ‘run where you live’ is such a reward for us. We look forward to our event next year being hosted on November 12, 2022.”
