Donating cleaning supplies of upliftment in Linden

LINDEN – A local charity impacted the life of small business through one simple act.

Nothing beats having people fully believe in you and in all the potential you possess.

It must fill one with a sense of pride knowing that what they do and who they are is valued by those around you. These must the be the sentiments of Percy, who can be found in Linden cleaning windows and cars.

Recently, Chic Mamas Do Care Jozi, a non-profit organisation, who has always been endeared to Percy’s work ethic, gifted him with cleaning supplies that should go a long way in aiding his small business.

Although the organisation had only known Percy for a few months, in that time they saw he was a hard, good quality worker with impeccable manners.

For them it was important to assist him in any way they could as their hearts really went out to him. Karen Harvey, manager at the non-profit, shared how Percy was trying to earn a living to support his child, “He wasn’t asking for a hand-out, he was asking to wash windows and cars to earn a wage.”

It was one of the organisation’s volunteers who spearheaded the initative. Through it they supplied him with a branded trolley bin that has his name as well as cleaning tools for washing cars and windows such as, a bucket, cloths, sponges, brushes and detergents. He also received a reflective vest with his name on it.

“Percy now has his own small business which is professionally presented, he only has to ask shop owners for water,” said Harvey. He is now cleaning more, so much so that customers now have to book him in advance should they want their cars washed.

From him, Harvey said the community could see that honesty, respectfulness, a good attitude and hard work do pay off.
