Country club to country club

A trail of runners connected Woodmead and Auckland Park during The Country Club Johannesburg’s (CCJ) Club to Club race.

The CCJ hosts this run between its venues annually and this year 136 people took part despite rain on the day.

There were two options to choose from and most runners opted for the longer 24km route that began at the Auckland Park patio and went along the Braamfontein Spruit to wind up at the Woodmead venue’s clubhouse.

The shorter 14km run began at the trail junction and also finished at the Woodmead clubhouse.

Despite the wet weather on the weekend, the atmosphere was vibrant and Graham Du Bourg impressed all by finishing the 24km run in just one hour and 44 minutes.

“I call the Club to Club run my baby event because it is one of the things that I started when I started working at CCJ,” said Claudia Richards, who is sports manager for both of the club’s venues.

“We started with only 12 runners that first time and this year, considering it was pouring with rain, still 136 people came out. It was actually just the most perfect conditions for the event and everyone had a really great day. Everyone came out smiling from ear to ear and enjoyed the incredible Braamfontein Spruit that Joburg has to offer.”
