Rainbow Line Dancers win big internationally

ROOSEVELT PARK – Rainbow Line Dancers keep imploring people of all ages to participate in the sport as they have so much to enjoy when they gather.

Local line dance group, Rainbow Line Dancers, won the title of Line Dance Company of the year at the Corporate Live Wire South Africa Prestige Awards 2020.

Leon Nel, owner of the line dance group, explained Corporate Live Wire is a UK-based company, who, after much research, award various companies across parts of the world based on certain criteria. This criteria being service, innovation, experience, sustainability and other areas.

“It turned out that somebody had nominated us for this prestigious award and the company let me know with the request that I send them information about us, what it is we do, and prizes we’ve won,” he shared. Adding that in just a few weeks thereafter, they contacted him with the great news that they had won.
Nel said the line dancers are just so excited to be a part of this great win which is recognised worldwide. “They just can’t stop smiling.”

The group has been running for about six years and hosts their practice at the Roosevelt Park Bowling Club every Thursday morning for two hours. This space is great as they observe social distancing while still having great social interaction with each after the various levels of the lockdown kept them apart for so long.
These dancers range from ages 25 with the oldest being 92 years old, “The 92-year-old lady loves to dance, she can’t stop smiling when she starts.”
