SA squash champ receives no financial relief from government, asks for aid

JOBURG – SA squash champion receives no financial aid as she is self-employed.

South African women’s squash champion, Milnay Louw has asked for financial assistance from the public as her request for relief from the government was turned down.

This comes after the nationwide lockdown continues and only some professional sports returned under lockdown level three.”I have applied for sport relief but because I am self-employed, they don’t want to pay out anything,” Louw told Caxton Local Media.”

I am desperately in need of relief as while clubs remain closed I have not earned any money for the last three months. Who knows how long before clubs are open?”The Professional Squash Association’s world circuit has been cancelled until August as well as all competitive squash events in South Africa.”All of this of course has had a direct loss of income for me,” Louw added.

“I am a full-time player and part-time coach. I play league but of course nothing can happen while clubs are closed.”Louw is considering launching a crowdfunding initiative for support.

Until then she asked anyone who is able to help her to please email squashbeat@gmail.com to contact her.
